Abstract

We previously showed [1] that the use of AlkMgX-THF complexes in aromatic hydrocarbons instead of Gringnard compounds in diethyl ether ensures replacement of the chlorine atom in 4-chloro-2-methyl-3-butyn-2-ol and preparation of the corresponding alkylacetylenic alcohols in good yield; simultaneously, the fire risk of the process is considerably reduced.
