Abstract
We have been engaged in the development of catalytic Ni/Cr-mediated coupling reactions (Fig. 1). 1 and 2 With use of sulfonamide ligands, this coupling provides chiral allylic alcohols at the synthetically useful level. One of the by-products found in this process is the homodimer 4 of alkenyl iodide 2. Although it is formed only in an insignificant amount, 4 is uniformly found.
