Abstract

As a continuation of the study of the dehydration of alcohols by means of dilute aqueous solutions of acids or acid-acting salts, l-* 2-rnethyl-2, 4-pentanediol and 4-methyl-x-penten-2- ol were submitted to the action of dilute aqueous ferric chloride and magnesium chloride'solutions.
