Abstract
Abstract: Trimethylenecyclopropane (3a), a theoretically interesting cross-conjugated hydrocarbon isomeric with benzene and the simplest member of the class of radialenes, has been synthesized by two independent routes. This radialene is stable in the condensed phase in dilute solutions to both acid and base and has been characterized by spectral as well as chemical means. By classical standards 3a cannot be considered aromatic ...
