Abstract

In the first paper of this series, l it was shown that acyl derivatives of benzylhydrazine (I) are potent monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors. These compounds are characterized by a long duration of activity (more than 4 days and usually up to 30 days in the test described) 2 and are classified as irreversible MA0 inhibitor^.^ Udenfriend and co-workers3, have shown that some alkaloids of the Harmala group are reversible and short-acting M90 inhibitors.
