Abstract
Summary Phenyl iodide. dichloride and iodine chloride may be used as nitridizing agents in liquid ammonia but the N-chloro acid amides so far investigated are valueless in this connection. Phenyl iodide dichloride reacts with ammonia, either liquid or gaseous, to give nitrogen, phenyl iodide and ammonium chloride.
