Abstract

A solution of 48.0 g.(0.37 mole) of crude mcyanobenzaldehyde and 42.5 g.(0.41 mole) of malonic acid (EK Co.) in 5 ml. of pyridine and 50 ml. of 95% alcohol was heated for ten hours on a steam-bath.
