Abstract The carbonylation of a THF solution of aryllithium (aryl= Ph, o-anisyl) in the presence of an alkyl bromide, RBr; at atmospheric pressure and− 78 C, affords diarylalkylcarbinols in good yields. Alkyl chlorides do not react under similar experimental conditions.
