Abstract

The action of organomagnesium halides on a, 8-unsaturated aldehydes has been the subject of many investigations. Grignard, the pioneer in this field, obtained only secondary carbinols. Thereafter came a host of investigators who likewise obtained only secondary carbinols or degradation products derived from them.
