Abstract
The addition of formaldehyde to olefins is known as the Prins reaction. 13 In a previous paper, 2-1 the preparation of a limonenylcarbinol, 1, 8 (9)-^-menthadien-10-yl-carbinol, and its various derivatives was reported. The present paper describes the thermal condensation of paraformaldehyde with aliphatic olefins in the presence of acetic anhydride.
