Abstract
The kinetics of decarboxylation of the monopeptide of aminomalonic acid (Ama), Na-acetyl- Ama N-ethylamide, to the corresponding monopeptide of glycine (Gly), Na-acetyl-Gly N- ethylamide, are described. The rate constants for decarboxylation of the anionic and neutral species at 120 OC in aqueous medium are 0.002 22 and 0.26 min-', respectively, and the pK, relating these species is 2.33.
