Abstract
We recently described an annulation reaction of a ketone with aliphatic aldehyde phosphonates. [10] As an extension of that earlier work, we synthesized and evaluated aldehydes 1 and 2 (Scheme [2] ). Both compounds were prepared from the known bromo diester 3 that had been prepared in two steps from o-tolualdehyde.
