Abstract

The chlorides I obtained from addition of hemiacetal chlorides to cyclopentadiene were converted to the actetates I1 by sodium (or potassium) acetate in acetic acid, and the results are summarized in Table I. In a similar manner the chloride IIIe was converted to the methacryloxy compound IIIc by sodium methacrylate in dimethylformamide.
