Abstract

Dithymidine phosphonate (10) was synthesized by a new method via dithymidine aroylphosphonates (3) in which the aroyl group served as a protecting group for OPH functions. In a way analogous to the phosphotriester method, 3 was prepared by successive condensation of an aroylphosphonic acid with two kinds of thymidine derivatives.
