Abstract

A facile and efficient route for the homogeneous and highly stereoselective monohydration of substituted methylenemalononitriles to (E)-2-cyanoacrylamides catalyzed by copper (II) acetate monohydrate in acetic acid containing 2% water is described, and a mechanism is
