Abstract

A series of 2-phenyl-3-n-alkyl-4-thiazolidinones was prepared and its properties studied. Upon treatment of these ccmpounds with lithium aluminum hydride a reduction of the amide structure with rupture of the thiazolidine ring occurred. The structure of the cleavage product was proved by unequivocal syntheses.
