Abstract

Alkali metal fluorides are well known in the literature to behave as bases, and this property has been utilized to effect a variety of organic transformations. l In the course of research efforts aimed at the synthesis of new fluoroalkylarenes for evaluation as potential monomers and intermediates for advanced tribological systems, we discovered a novel fluoride ion mediated olefination of electron-deficient aryl ketones, resulting in arylalkenes.
