Abstract
N-unsubstituted 2-vinylaziridines are prepared from N-unsubstituted 2-acylaziridines and phosphoranes. Their stereochemistry is established from a study of their nmr spectra. Thermal isomerization of these compounds gives imines by a reaction involving hetcrolytic cleavage of the carbon-carbon bond of the ring and migration of hydrogen initially bound to nitrogen.
