Abstract

Dialkoxy disulfides (1) readily reacted with mercaptans or secondary amines to give alkoxyalkyl trisulfides (4) or alkoxyamino disulfides (5) with elimination of alcohol. These alkoxy sulfides (4 or 5) further reacted with mercaptans or secondary amines to give unsymmetrical dialkyl tetrasulfides (6), alkylamino trisulfides (7), and unsymmetrical diamino disulfide (8).
