Abstract

The intramolecular photocycloaddition reactions of a number of 3-allyl-substituted diphenylcyclopropenes have been studied. Photodimerization occurred when 1, 2-diphenyl- 3-allylcyclopropene was irradiated in benzene. The photodimerization reaction was shown to be derived from the triplet state since the photodimer could be quenched when the irradiation was carried out in the presence of piperylene.
