Abstract
Flash vacuum pyrolysis of trimethyl (trichloromethy1) silane 3 at 500-700" C was shown to be a simple and efficient method for the production of: CC12 in the gas phase. The copyrolysis of silane 3 and benzaldehyde (7) at 600" C led to l, l, l-trichloro-2-phenyl-2- (trimethylsiloxy) ethane (8), a 1: l adduct, in addition to bend chloride (15) and a- chlorophenylacetyl chloride (16), products thought to arise from 1, l-dichloro 3-phenyl ...
