Abstract

Photolysis of 3-(2, 2-dimethylcyclopropyl)-3-chlorodiazirine (4) at 25 OC in pentane affords 8 1% of the 1, 2-C migration products 1-chloro-3, 3-dimethylcyclobutene (5) and 2-chloro-3, 3- dimethylcyclobutene (6) in a 4.8: 1 distribution, as well as 19% of the fragmentation products, isobutene, and chloroacetylene.
