Abstract

Propenyl ketones and their higher vinylogs2 might be expected to exhibit the properties characteristic of methyl ketones. Thus condensation with ethyl oxalate would lead to the synthesis of substances of the type RCO (CHCH=),-CHzCOCOOCzHs analogous to the unsaturated keto esters of the type R0, C (CH= CH), CH2-COCOOR derived from crotonic ester and its vinylogs. 3 The realization of this expectation would open the way to the ...
