Abstract

Imidazolium based nitrite ionic liquid containing trimethoxysilyl group was prepared from the reaction of N-methylimidazole and (3-chloropropyl) trimethoxysilane. This ionic liquid was immobilized on silica covalently to give nanoparticles with the imidazolium nitrite moiety remaining intact.
