Abstract
3, 3-Bis-(p-hy droxyphen yl)-4-hexanone and its derivatives, viz., ethers and esters, have been used as key intermediates in the synthesis of diethylstilbe~ trol.~~~*~ In the first paper of this series4 we described a preparation of the ketone by a pinacolone rearrangement of 3, 4-di-p-anisyl-3, 4-hex-anediol as well as the succeeding conversion of the product to diethylstilbestrol.
