Abstract

The catalytic reductionla of 3, 5-dinitro-4-aminoanisole (I) in dioxane proceeded rapidly at an initial pressure of 600 pounds and an initial temperature of 100'using 2 to 3 g. of moist Raney nickel catalyst per gram of starting material. No promoter2 was found necessary and the product, 3, 4, 5-triaminoanisole (11), was isolated as the dihydrochloride.
