Abstract

Abstract The acidity function H o for pentafluorobenzolsulphonic acid in aqueous medium has been determined with the help of the Hammet bases 4-nitro, 2-nitro, 4-chloro-2-nitro-and 2, 6-dichloro-4-nitroanilin. The experimental determination of the H o value was obtained using an 85% concentration of benzolsulphonic acid. Thereafter it was possible by extrapolation to ascertain an H o value for 100% benzolsulphonic acid.
