Abstract
Since phenylethynylcarbinol was produced in a Sly0 yield by the use of the Jones- McCombie method and in a 357, yield by the Zeitner-Genas method, most of our work centered around the use of the various aldehydes with the former method. To ascertain whether an acetylenic carbinol had been formed we found useful the production of an explosive yellowish silver acetylide.'j
