Abstract
PCC/Celite in benzene under reflux4 has been reported to give good yields in benzylic oxidations. These results prompt us to report our findings in this area of benzylic oxidations using readily available tert-butyl hydroperoxide and pyridinium di~ hromate.~ Although tert- butyl hydroperoxide and pyridinium dichromate do not effect allylic and benzylic oxidations independently, a combination of these two in a 1: l molar ratio turns out to be a very good ...
