Abstract
Introduction In a previous paper of this series, 2 we reported the reaction of? r-allylpalladium chloride (I) with carbon monoxide in ethanol to form ethyl 3-butenoate (11). The reaction was assumed to proceed through the formation of acylpalladium dicarbonyl chloride, by analogy with carbonylations catalyzed by nickel carbonyl. s
