Abstract

Reduction of a,@-unsaturated carbonyl compounds by DIBAH generally takes place at the carbonyl group (1, 2-reduction) to produce allylic alcohols. It has been now found that a remarkable change of reducing reactivity of DIBAH is brought about by addition of HMPA.
