Abstract
Phenyl 1, 1, 2, 3, 3, 3-hexafluoropropyl ketone (I) and 2, 2, 3-trifluoro-3-(trifluoromethyl) indanone (II) were synthesized by the radical-addition reaction of benzaldehyde to hexafluoropropene. The reduction with NaBH 4 and the Grignard reaction with methylmagnesium iodide of these ketones gave the corresponding secondary and tertiary alcohols respectively.
