Abstract

The reaction of oxygen atoms with propane-1, 1, 1, 3, 3, 3-d 6,(CD 3) 2 CH 2, in a fast-flow system was studied with a photoionization mass spectrometer. Isopropyl-d 6 radicals,(CD 3) 2\ dotCH, formed by the initial hydrogen abstraction at the 2-position were detected directly.(CD 3) 2 CH 2+ O (3 P)→(CD 3) 2 CH+ OH (3) The subsequent reaction of (CD 3) 2\ dotCH radicals with atomic oxygen proceeds by both an deuterium abstraction (61%) and ...
