Abstract

(S)-(+)-2, 6-Dimethyl-3-octen-2-01 [(S)-4]: To a stirred and ice-cooled solution of 78.9 g (253 mmol) of diphenyl diselenide in 800 ml of dry dichloromethane was added dropwise 24.6 g (253 mmol) of 35% hydrogen peroxide. After stirring for 30 min, 42 g (350 mmol) of magnesium sulfate was added to the stirred mixture. The stirring was continued for 30 min.
