Abstract
Abstract: A series of 12 y-and 6-halosilanes was prepared and characterized. Reduction of these halides at 140 OC with di-tertbutyl peroxide as the initiator led to the formation of rearranged as well as unrearranged products, all of which were separately synthesized for authentic comparison. The rearranged products arose from 1, 4-or 1, 5-aryl shifts from silicon to carbon and are the first such rearrangements to be reported. These shifts proceed via ...
