Thermal Reactions of Substituted Aryl Azides: The Nature of the Azene Intermediate

Abstract

Six aryl azides were prepared and thermally decomposed. In two cases, o-azidocumetie (XIX) and o-azidophenylcyclohexane (XX), the pyrolysis products were identified as 3- methpl-2, 3-dihydroindole(XXI and hexahydrocarbazole, respectively.
