Abstract
The synthesis of 5-and 6-substituted-2-thioura-cils froin p-oxoesters and thiourea has been reported recently by Anderson] et aL2 These compounds were evaluated in rats as antithyroid drugs3 and several were found to be more active than the parent compound, 2- thiouracil, which has been used extensively for the treatment of hyperthyroidism in man. 4 In this paper several new 6-substituted-2-thiouracils are described.
