Abstract
GaCl3 catalyzes the aromatic alkylation of naphthalene or phenanthrene using cycloalkanes. The CC bond formation predominantly takes place at the least hindered positions of the substrates, and equatorial isomers regarding the cycloalkane moiety are generally obtained.
