Abstract

Several perfluoroalkylnitriles reacted under pressure with methyl and ethyl mercaptans in the presence of anhydrous potassium carbonate as catalyst to give the corresponding perfluoroalkylthioimidates in high yields. Hydrochlorides of the thioimidates were converted to the esters of dithiocarboxylic acids by reaction with hydrogen sulfide and to orthothioesters by mercaptolysis under pressure.
