Abstract

Arylmercaptoacetonitrilea are readily acylated with lower aliphatic eaters. Their crude enol ethers, obtained by reaction with diasomethane, condense with guanidine to produce 2, 4- diamincl. 5srylmercaptop~~ dines. In contrast with the closely related 5-phenoxy-and 5benaylpyrimidinea, these compounds are practically devoid of activity us. protozoan and bacterial infections.
