Abstract
1, 2, 3-0xadithiolane Boxide (11) was prepared from mercaptoethanol and thionyl chloride in chloroform. The 5-methyl homolog (X) was also prepared by this method. Attempted preparation of the 5-phenyl homolog under the same conditions leads to only 2, 5-diphenyl- p-dithiane (XII).
