Abstract

Partial formation of a salt of the carboxylic acid group along with the usual chelate bonding to the 8-quinolinol portion of the molecule might be responsible for this effect; however, it is significant that anthranilic acid is a good chelating agent for many divalent ions but has not been reported in the literature as giving chelate compounds with trivalent ions.
