Abstract
p-Quinonemonobenzimidemonobenzenesulfo... adds hydrogen chloride to give exclusively 2-chloro-p-phenylene-4-benzamide-I-benzenesulfonamide. Upon oxidation of this latter product to the diimide and subsequent addition of hydrogen chloride, 2, 6-dichloro-p- phenylene-4-benzamide-l-benzenesulfonamide is formed.
