Abstract: Condensation of 2-(-chloroethyl) benzimidazole 1 with benzimidazole-2-thiol 2 gives 2-(⍺-thioethyl-2-benzimidazolyl) benzimidazole 3. The latter can also be prepared by the reaction of 2-(⍺-thioethyl) benzimidazole 4 with 2-chlorobenzimidazole 5.
