Abstract

A study of the reaction between formaldehyde precursors and nitriles has led to an organic reaction not described in the literature.'It has been found that in the presence of catalytic quantities of concentrated sulfuric acid, the main products are adducts of formaldehyde and the respective azines having the general formula
