Abstract A series of 4-(substituted aminosulfonyl)-and 4-(substituted hydrazinosulfonyl)-2- aminobutanoic acids, compounds structurally related to glutamine, was synthesized as potential inhibitors of L-asparagine synthetase and subjected to screening as antitumor agents.
