Abstract

Allylic phenylcarbamates prepared from allylic alcohols and phenyl isocyanate in situ reacted with aldehydes to give conjugated dienes in good yields in the presence of tributylphosphine and a catalytic amount of Pd (PPh 3) 4. This method proved to be suitable for the preparation of polyene compounds such as carotenoids.
