Abstract

8 acetates was confirmed by NMR (proton and I3C). Six aromatic protons and the ABX pattern of the CH2-CH-(OAc) grouping were also indicated in the proton NMR. The mass spectrum exhibited peaks at (M-CH2CO),(M-2CH2CO) and (M-3CH2CO), indicating each of the acetates was an aryl acetate'.
