Abstract
I\ Iii thylamine was likely the first step followed by reduction of one or more of the carbonyl- imine equilibrium species. This mechanism is consistent with the experimental results.(Although imines are depicted above as being the species reduced to amines by both reagents, Borch, Bernstein, and Durst have reported that iminium ions are the actual species reduced by sodium cyanoborohydride.”)
