Abstract

Nanosized chemosensors have been developed to probe oxygen concentrations in biological systems that consist of palladium (II) porphyrins with meso-pyridyl substituents, which bind to the surface of CdSe quantum dots (QDs). Spectral overlap of QD emission and porphyrin absorption results in high FRET efficiency, which serves as the mechanism for signal transduction in these constructs.
